When Erwin Pelzig seriously injures his neighbour, the driver Johann Griesmaier, in a moment of carelessness, he feels inclined to secure the job of the father of seven children. Thus, he takes over Griesmaier′s job as the driver of the industrialist Eduard Brieger until Griesmaier has fully recovered. But at that point, things are really getting worse. When Pelzig learns by accident that Brieger′s factories, which are producing shopping cart, are in financial troubles, he sees his neighbour′s job jeopardized once again. For Pelzig, there is only one solution: He has to save Bieger′s company from bankruptcy by all means. The only problem is that he has absolutely no clue about economics.
