In fact, the bank clerk Rolf Köster has everything that a man in a middle-class life could ever wish for: a secure job, a nice pretty house of their own as well as two nice kids and a very nice caring wife. Yet, it is precisely this absolutely average normalness which seems to be driving Rolf gradually crazy. When his boss tells him to take a week off work, Rolf breaks out of his finely tuned routine life. Without telling his family of his “forced time off”, he leaves the house everyday at the usual time – and tries to enjoy his days of “freedom”. At first he is not quite so successful. That is, until he meets the eccentric taxi driver Sophie. Through her, he learns to free himself from the pressures and drag of daily life. Yet, the week does not only hold happy surprises for Klaus.
