A young woman named Fiona arrives in a town in the German Ruhr area in order to work as a household help for the Bauer family. Father, mother, daughter and son are keeping to themselves and there is virtually no communication between the family members. No one realizes that Fiona has made a decision; only the neighbour starts to worry. The film depicts a family's everyday existence, which is unexpectedly altered by a stranger.
