Historical comedy about the (fictitious) adventures of the legendary crossbowman Wilhelm Tell: Without knowing it, the street trader Tell and his companion, the rather stupid Val-Tah, become part of the Swiss resistance. They are ordered to render the fortress of the hated Austrian Vogt Gessler hors de combat, a mission that lets the two gawky "heroes" stumble from one turbulent situation into the next.
