Die Spur der roten Fässer

Deutschland 1995/1996 Spielfilm

Summary

The Trace of the Red Barrels

Steffi Steinkueller, a young single parent, is going to spend the holidays with her three children Roman, Julia, Jonas and Romans′ Turkish friend Tekin at a farm in the Mark Brandenburg. The owners, Mr. and Mrs. Hensel, have recently lost their only child Hans-Joerg.

Apparently it was suicide but his parents do not know of any reasons why their son would have killed himself. Whilst exploring in the area, the children meet Anatoli, a young Russian soldier who is living on an old Russian military site together with his dog Taina. Anatoli is sometimes working illegally for the Otto Schlange Transportation Company - the same company Hans-Joerg Hensel used to work for. There seems to be some dirty business with red barrels full of chemical waste. The children set up the private investigation office of Steinkueller & Co. in order to solve the mystery of the red barrels and can occasionally rely on the help of the retired police superintendent Otto Kaminski.
