Die aus der 12b

DDR 1961/1962 Spielfilm

Summary

German teacher Miss Platzke starts working in a graduating class. Since she is young and inexperienced, the students soon consider her incapable of doing her job. Their disrespectful and harsh behavior makes Miss Platzke even more insecure, and she reacts with rigidity: On the last day before winter break she orders them to write an unannounced essay, thereby provoking a spontaneous strike. Only the anxious Dieter and the ambitious Margot are willing to write the essay. A subsequent discussion about the strike and the strikebreaker’s behavior has a positive effect upon the team spirit: the students start to take a greater interest in each other. In winter camp, the newly-found team spirit proves to be of value. When Dieter gets caught in a massive winter storm, Miss Platzke turns out to be farseeing and brave, and with united forces Dieter can be rescued. From now on, the students will treat their German teacher with respect.
