Sobhi Awad took part in a casting for the feature film "Zu weit weg" ("Too Far Away") in 2018 and was cast in the leading role of an 11-year old Syrian refugee boy who befriends a German classmate and outsider. The film was screened at numerous festivals around the world and won several awards. The German theatrical release was in March 2020.
