Sylvaine Faligant was born in Angers, France, in 1988. She attended the Les Enfants terribles drama school in Paris and studied art history, philosophy and psychology at the Free University of Berlin. In Berlin, she also completed an internship with Andreas Kriegenburg at the Deutsches Theater.
After her first, very small film appearances, Faligant landed a leading role in the 2015 social drama "Club Europa", which premiered at the 2017 Max Ophüls Prize film festival, where it won the 'Prize for Socially Relevant Film'. She had another leading role in "Night Be Gone" (2023), a drama about a former drug addict from France and an African refugee who want to make big money in Berlin through a shady billiards tournament.
In the Panorama section of the 2026 Berlinale, Sylvaine Faligant could be seen in "Allegro Pastell", a love story set in 2018/2019 about a long-distance relationship between Berlin and Maintal that is increasingly marked by ups and downs. The film is scheduled for release in April 2026.
