Splitter - Afghanistan

Summary

Shattered Afghanistan - How Can I Imagine Peace

In a museum in Kabul, Afghan archaeologists assemble fragments of works of art that were destroyed by the Taliban. The attempt seems irreal. Street scenes of the demolished city baffle us in our curiosity and horror. The misery of more than thirty years of war is vivid and painful. Then a place of hope and help. Shock gives way to surprise. Broken people, physical distress, men without arms or legs, women and children are being looked after. It seems pleasant here, happy and full of hope – in the Orthopaedic Center, the heart of the Red Cross, in Kabul. Alberto, the enthusiastic head doctor, starts believing in miracles when they help a young boy, Sher Ahmad, to get back on his feet. The film accompanies him to his South Afghan village on the border to Pakistan.
