Oliver Pocher was born February 18, 1978, in Hannover. After finishing school, he became an insurance salesman and worked as a radio host and a disc jockey on the side. Pocher hosted the VIVA shows "Chart Surfer", "Was geht ab", and "Planet Viva". In 2002, Pocher got his own show "Alles Pocher, ... oder was?". From May 2002 on, Pocher also starred as the sensible dreamer Fred Benz in the ARD series "Sternenfänger". Then, from 2003 to 2006, he hosted his show "Rent a Pocher" on Pro Sieben. Pocher also found his own production company "Pocher TV GmbH" in 2003.

After numerous stints in TV comedy shows, Pocher started to appear in movies in 2006. In 2007, he starred in his first leading role as Simon Peters, a frustrated telephone salesman, in the adaptation of Tommy Jaud"s best-selling novel "Vollidiot" (Complete Idiot).
