Alex Berner was born in 1966 in Munich. After training as a graphic designer in London, he edited numerous documentaries, music videos and advertising spots. In 1989, he filmed Inheritance, a musical portrait about a multi-cultural rock band in the USA.
He then returned to Germany and made the trailers to such films as Bille August’s "The House of Spirits", Doris Doerrie’s "Happy Birthday!"
