The Inheritors

A farmer of the Austrian Mühlviertel is found murdered. The farmer′s murderess is soon caught. But the reading of the murdered farmer′s will reveals a surprise: his seven farm labourers are the sole heirs of the estate. The former farm labourers soon get used to the new situation but the old-established farmers watch their unusual doings with a mixture of scepticism and envy. They are sure that it is to no good when a farm labourer becomes his own master. The villager′s hidden resentment finally results in open violence.
