The Visit


Millionaire Karla Zachanassian returns to her home town that suffers from nearly empty public funds. She wants to take cruel revenge on her one-time seducer Serge Miller and holds out the prospect of a large donation to the town′s residents when they agree to kill Serge. But in contrast to Friedrich Dürrenmatt′s black-humoured tragicomedy, Karla saves her former lover from the execution in the last moment. Bernhard Wicki had to append a happy ending to the star-studded Hollywood adaptation of the story, thus putting his amicable relationship to Dürrenmatt to an acid test.
