Cuba Libre
The story of people who have long since been ignorant of how many millions there are in the lottery jackpot or that there is now a "super number". People who don′t know the Federal Chancellor′s name or how many television stations there are. A story of people who just couldn′t care less about that.
They meet each other in an anonymous station buffet: Tom, falling apart, worn out. Tina, whose love and money Tom stole five years ago and who has progressively fallen further downwards. The first gesture between them is a slap, the first sentence: "I hate you!" Circling them is a man, Jimmy. An errand boy, a petty gangster. Who makes out he needs a friend, but is really only looking for a decoy. They are all wanting to get away, to Cuba. Pictures of dunes and palms and sea. And they want to get back what was taken from them: beauty, health, ease of being. All of them get embroiled in petty, underhand intrigues. In the end, they only manage to get as far as the Belgian coast.
