Regina Schilling, born 1962, studied literary studies and pedagogics in Cologne and initially worked as a press officer for the publishing house Kiepenheuer & Witsch. From 1997 on, Schilling worked as a freelance journalist, children"s book author and documentary film maker. Furthermore, she participates in compiling the programme of the international literature festival "lit. Cologne". After several TV documentary films, for instance about author Benjamin Lebert, Schilling finished "Bierbichler", a full-length documentary about the actor Josef Bierbichler, her first film to be shown as a feature film in cinemas.
