Lisa Maria Potthoff, born Juli 25, 1978, in Berlin, starts her career at the age of 17 by playing small supporting roles in TV-shows like "Marienhof" and "Flughafenklinik". In 1997 she enlists for a two year training at Münchner Schauspielhaus. Afterwards she appears in stage plays at Münchner Volkstheater and Theater Dortmund. She also plays supporting roles in numerous TV-shows like "Soko 5113", "Bei aller Liebe" (30 episodes) and "Polizeiruf 110" as well as TV-movies like Dominik Graf"s highly praised drama "Bittere Unschuld" (1999). By playing the leading role in the TV-thriller "Die Tochter des Kommissars" (2001) she finally catches the attention from critics and audience alike.

Potthof makes her cinematic breakthrough in 2003 with Gregor Schnitzler"s "Soloalbum" alongside Matthias Schweighöfer. Appearances in highly diverse films like the award-winning satire "Der Tag als Bobby Ewing starb", Sherry Horman"s football comedy "Männer wie wir" in which Potthoff portays the female trainer of a gay football team, or the romantic winter sports comedy "Schwere Jungs" consolidate Lisa Maria Potthoff"s reputation as one of the most promising young actresses in contemporary German cinema.

After key supporting roles in equally ambitious and slightly frivolous comedies such as Rothemund"s "Pornorama", Maggie Peren"s "Stellungswechsel" ("Special Escort"), and Christian Zübert"s "Hardcover", Potthoff played her first leading role in a movie in 2008: In Joseph Vilsmaier"s eagerly awaited drama "Die Geschichte vom Brandner Kaspar", based on the famous Bavarian folk tale, Potthoff plays the adorable granddaughter of the title character alongside Franz Xaver Kroetz.
