Biografie

Thomas Schmauser was born in Burgebach on November 30 1972. Between 1992 and 1996, he studied acting at the Otto-Falckenberg-Schule in Munich. During that time, he already appeared in stage productions at the Münchner Kammerspiele and the Schauspielhaus Zürich. In 1995, he made his film debut as a shy suitor in Hans Christian Schmid"s "Nach fünf im Urwald". He subsequently appeared in several TV productions, and was cast in major roles in Matthias X. Oberg"s dark-humoured comedy "Undertaker´s Paradise" (2000) and Jobst Oetzmann"s drama "Die Einsamkeit der Krokodile" (2000). From 1997 to 2000, Thomas Schmauser was an ensemble member at the Schauspielhaus in Hannover. In 1998, he received the O. E. Hasse Fellowship Award of the Berlin Academy of the Arts. From 2000 on, he was an ensemble member at the Thalia Theatre in Hamburg. In 2007, he joined the ensemble of the Münchner Kammerspiele as a permanent member. Schmauser also continued to appear in film and TV productions, including the war drama "Merry Christmas" (2005), the period piece "Räuber Kneißl" (2008) and the acclaimed TV crime drama "Freiwild" (2008). In 2010, he played an aspiring author in "Mein Leben im Off" (2010).
