Michael Juncker was born in Wiesbaden on in 1953 and made his first short film "Federfeil" in 1971. However, he did not start working in the film industry until he took a trainee post at Roxy Film in 1976. He wrote several screenplays and worked as location manager and assistant director on various German and international productions such as "Fabian", "Malou" and "The Serpent"s Egg". From 1983-1986, he served as co-author and artistic collaborator on the Doris Doerrie films "Straight to the Heart" ("Mitten ins Herz"), "Im Innern des Wals", "Men" ("Maenner") and "Paradies". He made his directorial debut in 1986 with "Wann - wenn nicht jetzt"? and then penned the screenplays for Doerrie"s "Me and Him" ("Ich und Er") and "Money" ("Geld"). In autumn 1996, Juncker made his second feature "Good Girls Don"t Lie" ("Frauen luegen nicht"), followed by "Flucht in den Dschungel"(1999).
