Born in Paris on 21.12.1969, she is the daughter of acting couple Albert Delpy and Marie Pillet. At the age of 14 she appeared in Jean-Luc Godard"s "Detective", and also directed her first short film. She was later to appear in several leading roles in European auteur productions. In 1992/93 she studied screen writing and directing at the Tisch School of the Arts in New York, and has since collaborated regularly with US director Richard Linklater. The year 2003 marked the release of her solo album, "Julie Delpy".
