Biography

Mike Marzuk started his career as a film editor and set up the film production company "illegale farben" in 2004 together with Baran Bo Odar. For "illegale farben", Marzuk worked as an editor on video clips for artists such as Lou Bega, Reamonn, and Bananafishbone, and on advertising films for Adidas, Mercedes-Benz, T-Com, and McDonald"s. Furthermore, Marzuk edited the multiple award-winning short film "Fragile" (2003) and directed advertising films for Playstation 2 and Adidas. In 2007, Marzuk made his film debut as director and screen play writer with the relationship comedy "Weißt was geil wär...?!"

He then directed the teen romance "Sommer" starring Jimi Blue Ochsenknecht. The film became a box office hit, as well as Marzuks next project, the teen musical "Rock It!". Next, he directed "5 Freunde" (2012), the screen adaptation of Enid Blyton's popular book series. With over one million admissions, the film turned out to be a hit at the box office, and was immediately followed by a sequel: "Fünf Freunde 2", again directed by Marzuk, was released in August 2013.

In 2014 the third part of the series was released and was nominated for the audience award at the Deutscher Filmpreis. After the hugely successful "Fünf Freunde 4" (2015), Marzuk went on to shoot the youth comedy "Verrückt nach Fixi" (2016) about a likeable high school kid who is being given a sex doll by his classmates trying to ridicule him. In spring 2018 "Fünf Freunde und das Tal der Dinosaurier" had its theatrical release in German cinemas. The film is not a direct sequel of the first four "Famous Five" films, but rather a new start of the series with a completely new cast.
