Each evening, the Italian restaurant Rossini is frequented by a number of illustrious regulars who, despite their many differences, have one thing in common: they are "singles" who′ve made the restaurant their home from home. Without any kind of inhibitions they use the restaurant as a living room and office, for private and business dramas, as a forum for their self-portrayal and the stage for their erotic comedies and tragedies.

They include the very busy cosmetic surgeon, an apparently man-mad woman journalist, a loud, jovial kind of film producer who has three bankers wanting to stop his credit line, an uncompromising poet who lives in a brothel, a beautiful woman called Valerie, a nervous man suffering from allergies who has his fourth divorce upon him, a misanthropist who only eats in the private room, the restaurant owner, the personnel ...

All of them are connected with each other in a wondrous manner: hopeless love, hatred, jealousy and male friendships surviving business transactions ...
