Vicky, a German woman who lives in New York, dreams about becoming a big star. But most of her auditions end in a catastrophe. Thus, she has to work as a waitress, like many other unsuccessful actors. One day, her father travels from Germany to New York and Vicky is compelled to play out her life as a large success story. Without further ado, she presents her gay flat mate as her husband and makes her father believe that she goes to auditions when in fact she is working in the restaurant. While Vicky tries to sustain her lie, her father gets mixed up in the life in New York, lands a role in the filming of a commercial and starts an affair with porno queen Annie.
