Liebe, Leben, Tod

Deutschland 1994/1995, Spielfilm

Synopsis

Love, Life, Death

Black and brown are usually not that appealing. White shoes, on the other hand, are interesting. But red or even glitzy shoes would be ideal. Paul loves feet and shoes. He is sales manager for a delicatessen shop. During his breaks, he dials telephone numbers at random.

If a woman′s voice answers, he politely asks: "Would you please describe to me the shoes you have on ?" Much to his regret, people usually hang up. And all the while, Frau Mischke, his neighbour, would give him her shoes and heart, but Paul is not in love. Leyla, an attractive young Turkish woman, hasn′t left her flat for 5 months since a friend was killed in an attack against foreigners. Leyla doesn′t want to have anything more to do with the world outside. One day, Paul happens to come upon Leyla′s number. He asks about her shoes - and, to her own astonishment, she doesn′t hang up.
