As part of her social work, the countess is visiting a prison. For this occasion, the warden wants to present a convict from the ‘Poor Sinners Cell’. But instead of the ruthless criminal, the guard accidentally brings forward a harmless prisoner. The countess is fascinated by this man, who allegedly seduced and murdered four women. She interrogates the unsuspecting prisoner, who is bewildered by her questions. Naturally, it takes some time before the mixup is resolved.
