The Meds
A tragicomedy about the adventures of two men and 2 women - the meds - who′d rather be anything than healthy, happy and mediocre. They all live in a large city in West Germany and are "Wessies" to the core. Precocious, disillusioned, morally eroded, politically bored and sexually sated.
They spend their time playing out melancholic variations on a theme of love, trusting neither themselves nor anyone else. Always on the run from the next compromise, they are all caught up in the mid-twenties crisis. In the midst of all this depression, one day, the suspicion arises that one of them is in fact a closet "Ossie", a liar and betrayer, an undercover agent and spy, a neo-Nazi or at least a Stalinist ... And suddenly the ghost of racism catches our enlightened, liberal meds off guard - because if there′s anything worse than a German, it′s being an East German. An absurd spiral of accusations, hearings and fear of being suspected follows. Then they all pull themselves together once more for a journey into the unknown reaches of east Germany - which, however, ends in disaster...
