Synopsis
The Girl from Fano
The Danish fishermen Frerk and Ipke fight a heavy storm offshore Fano harbour. They finally manage to reach the shore where they recover from the strains of their last tour before they are able to return to their home in far away Hooge. During their stay, they meet a cute girl, Pat. Both men fall in love with her. Pat is rather drawn to the boyish Ipke than to roughneck Frerk but she does not know that Ipke is already married. Thus, Pat and Ipke start a passionate affair while Frerk numbs his grief with alcohol.
After a few days, both men start their way home. Ipke promises Pat to return soon but the girl waits in vain for him. Instead, Ipke happily returns to his wife Angens who, in addition, is expecting their first child. However, Frerk cannot forgive his friend′s unfair behaviour. Thus, the former friends grow apart. Then, Pat who has not heard from Ipke decides to go to Hooge. There, she finds out the truth about Ipke and out of necessity marries lonely Frerk without really loving him. But the mounting tensions between all participants inevitably lead to a confrontation between Frerk and Ipke.
