Winfried Bonengel studied at the ESRA Film Academy in Paris from 1985-1989. He worked as a theater director and director's assistant before he began directing himself. In addition to writing numerous screenplays, he has directed: "La Petite Illusion" (short, 1987), "Die Anweisung" (short, 1989), "Wir sind wieder da" (TV, 1991), "Eine unheilige Allianz" (TV, 1992), "Beruf Neonazi" (1993) - which was shown at over 40 festivals, "Mein Leben: Der Knast" (TV, 1994), "The Right Wing Exposé" (1995), "Max Wolkenstein - Tod eines Penners" (TV, 1996), and "Fuehrer Ex" (2002).
