Born on 14.3.1960 in Mersin/Turkey, lives in Berlin since 1969. Studied theatre and journalism at the FU Berlin from 1978-89. Performed in TV movies and series during her studies. Worked as production manager and cutter and as assistant director for Harun Farocki. She directed her first documentary, "Fremde deutsche Nachbarschaft", in 1989, the year she graduated. In her many documentaries since, she has consistently dealt with topics of life together between Turks and Germans.
